Flaccid type cholesteatoma originates from closure of aeration route (tympanic isthmus) between the mesotympanum and epitympanum due to lasting otitis at the infant. If the closure of the isthmus is dissolved with the milled change of the otitis on the growth, the progression of the cholesteatoma will be stopped by the reopening of the aeration route to the attic and mastoid.

In those cholesteatoma cases, the ossicular chain are intact and the hearing is also intact. Even in such cases, bloody discharge sometimes appear in the ear, and patients are very anxious about ear disease. The complete cure by the surgery is very desired.

I have been doing such complete surgery in 28 cases for last 10 years, and as the results having an interest in the pathological conditions of the cholesteatoma cases with intact ossicular chain.

The surgical technique and the results will be introduced with the pathological conditions of the cholesteatoma with intact ossicular chain.
