Knowledge of the possible etiologic mechanisms involved is fundamental to the understanding of the clinical presentation of patients with dysequilibrium. In addition to measuring the flinction of the vestibular and auditory systems and visualizing the structures by imaging, it is important to investigate the metabolic hormonal and immunologic factors that are invoived etiologically. The management concepts that result from this understanding and application will lead to effective treatment modalities.
